Clinging to life

“If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.”. Matthew 10:39

These words leapt out at me this morning in my devotions, and they’ve been plaguing me ever since!

How foolish it is for me to cling to my life, as if were really all that great and glorious. My life is not worth clinging to-not my hopes, my dreams, my life’s plans – none of it!

Part of the reason I keep resisting what God is asking me to do is because I want to hold on to my present life. I don’t want it altered or changed. I don’t want everything turned upside down.

But what good is holding on to my life when all I’ll ever do anyway, is lose it. My temporal dreams of living a Cush, easy life pales in comparison to the plan which awaits in Christ.
