Sacrifice
“…for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son.”. Genesis 22:12
The altar of sacrifice is the place where we realize what is really important to us. Until we are asked to give up something, we don’t realize the power and influence it has over our choices, emotions and lifestyles.
God wants me not to withhold anything from him. Not this church, not my life dream, not my hopes and desires. He wants my all. He wants to know that He is more valuable and treasured than DC, my comfortable house, my finances and my family.
Am I willing to lay everything down at Jesus’ feet? Am I willing to surrender my hopes and dreams for life and ministry in order to receive what He has for my future?
Abraham realized what I need to realize- NOTHING is more important than God. Temporal things pale in light of eternal things. When God shakes our world, he is not out to destroy us. Rather he is out to destroy the hold those things have on our lives.
Lord help me to surrender my dreams and ministry plans to you. Help me to let go of those things so that I can grasp hold of what you have in store for my life.
What about you? What are you holding on to that needs to be surrendered to God? What is it that you are treasuring in your heart and clinging to, more than you are treasuring God?
That is what God wants you to surrender.
Why not ask Him to help you surrender it now? Scripture promises that you will not regret it.
